Agropolychim nominated finalist at the prestigious Platts Global Energy Awards 2025
We are proud to announce that Agropolychim AD has been shortlisted as a finalist in the Excellence in Energy – Chemicals category at the highly esteemed 2025 Platts Global Energy Awards, organized by S&P Global Commodity Insights. Often referred to as the “Oscars” of the global energy industry, these awards honor leadership, innovation, and outstanding achievements across 21 categories worldwide.
Our nomination recognizes Agropolychim’s pioneering biomass investment, which fully replaces fossil fuels in steam generation with locally sourced agricultural biomass. Through a custom-built 31 MW facility, we provide superheated and saturated steam to key production units, cutting carbon emissions by more than 80,000 tons annually while fostering a circular economy with regional farmers. This initiative proves that decarbonizing heavy industry is not only possible but also profitable and scalable.

It started with our nitrous oxide reducing catalysts in the nitric acid plant which cut 450.000 tons per year of CO2 equivalent and which years later became the norm in the European fertilizer industry. Our biomass investment, which is now nominated by Platts Global Energy Awards is another step in the same direction and demonstrates that even in heavy chemical industry, innovation and environmental responsibility can thrive together. This nomination is not only about celebrating our achievements as a company, but also about sending a strong signal that sustainable solutions are an integral part of the future of our sector, especially the ones done without subsidies whatsoever.”
