Agropolychim supports young talent at the 10th anniversary “Energy and us” competition

On March 20, 2026, the Technical University of Varna hosted the 10th anniversary edition of the national secondary school competition “Energy and Us,” organized jointly by the university and the Regional Department of Education – Varna.

This year’s theme, “Intelligent energy management of buildings,” attracted participants from across the country. A total of 119 students from grades 6 to 12 took part, representing 25 schools from 18 cities and towns.

The competition aims to foster the development of knowledge and practical skills in the field of energy, stimulate interest in engineering disciplines, and strengthen the connection between secondary and higher education, as well as between education and business.

Participants presented their projects in various formats, including physical models, presentations, portfolios, educational modules, and demonstration videos. During the final round, the projects were divided into five sections and evaluated based on criteria such as originality, applicability, technical execution, and quality of presentation.

Representatives of Agropolychim – Eng. Atanas Papazchev, Chief energy officer, and Eng. Nikolay Naydenov, Deputy head of the electrical maintenance department, served as jury members in two of the sections. Their colleagues Blagoy Kolev, Head of power supply, and Anatoli Ivanov, Energy engineer, also participated in the evaluation of the student projects.

To mark the anniversary edition, a special competition was held for the most original home automation solution. In this category, Agropolychim presented special awards to two teams:

Georgi Georgiev and Monika Lyubenova (11th grade, PGSA “Vasil Levski,” Varna, supervised by Plamen Panayotov and Zhaklin Angelova) showcased a functional prototype of “Smart blinds,” distinguished by its fully independent implementation, including the fabrication of mechanical components and comprehensive technical documentation.

Damyan Atanasov and Georgi Semkovski (12th grade, Vocational high school of electrical engineering and electronics, Plovdiv, supervised by Eng. Georgi Georgiev) developed a project on “Intelligent energy management of a public building,” demonstrating integration between digital systems and real electrical engineering solutions, including control of a three-phase electric motor via a frequency inverter.

All students from the awarded teams received individual prizes from Agropolychim – Xiaomi Wanbo Cube 2 Pro projectors, as well as personal certificates.

The anniversary edition of the competition was held in a dynamic and highly professional atmosphere, once again confirming the growing interest of young people in the field of energy, including solutions related to renewable energy sources and smart management systems.

Through its participation in such initiatives, Agropolychim consistently supports the development of technical education and encourages young people to pursue careers in engineering and industrial fields.
